Which method is better?
P/E is quick and works for non-dividend-paying stocks. DDM works for mature dividend payers (utilities, banks, consumer staples). Use multiple methods for triangulation.
How to pick target P/E?
Compare to sector median, historical average for the stock, and peers. Growth > sector warrants premium, but be conservative.
Limitation of DDM?
Doesn't work for growth stocks with r ≤ g (math breaks). Also assumes perpetual constant growth — rarely true.
What if fair price > market price?
Stock looks undervalued — potential buy. But double-check assumptions and consider why the market disagrees.
