ROI is total gain %. Annualised ROI (same as CAGR for single-period investments) normalises to per-year, making different holdings comparable.
What is a good ROI?
Context-dependent. Equity benchmark: 12% CAGR. Real estate: 5–10% including rent. Fixed deposit: 6–7%. Beating inflation (~6%) by 3%+ is the baseline goal.
Does ROI include income?
It should, if the investment pays dividends, interest, or rent. Add those to the final value or track total return separately.
