What is GCD?
Greatest Common Divisor — largest number that divides both num and den evenly. 24 and 36: GCD is 12. 24/36 = (24÷12)/(36÷12) = 2/3.
Is 2/3 simpler than 4/6?
Yes — fewer symbols, easier to grasp. Simplified form is canonical.
Does sign matter?
Negative sign moves to numerator by convention. −3/4, not 3/−4.
Euclidean algorithm?
